MiSTer FPGA – Super Street Fighter II (スーパーストリートファイターII) / Capcom CPS-2 Arcade [BETA]

This is from a Livestream where I tested all characters. The video starts with 10 mins of music while I gave people time to join the stream before starting. Chapter markers are included to quickly navigate to a favorite character, and to skip music/breaks quickly if you’d like. Saw nine different endings during this session, as are notated in the index. Had an ambient drum ‘n bass cooldown session at the end that the YT copyright hounds didn’t appreciate, so I had to trim and re-upload this. Unfortunately this means the chat is lost. During the video there are some random-seeming pauses before some fights when I was chatting also.

In this stream I tried all characters in Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers on the CPS2 beta core. I’m not good with all of them but know the basic moves at least, even for ones I don’t know so well. Cammy, Dee Jay, Fei Long and Zangief are probably my weakest.

I feel this game is in excellent shape already, and look forward to comparisons to PCB for exact timing to be examined. I haven’t enjoyed this game so much in a damn long time, with it being one of my most-played entries in the series thanks to the excellent SNES port. Didn’t expect to go nearly 6 hours with this one, but this is such an incredibly fun roster of characters to play a round or two with that the time just flies once you start getting into a groove. Looking forward to practicing some more Dhalsim and Cammy in the near future here. Didn’t play either character nearly as much as I should have back in the day. Gonna learn them proper on MiSTer, and hopefully utilize a training hack like the one recently made for Alpha 3, which would be perfect for honing in some technique.
