Witch n’ Wiz is a new 2021 homebrew NES game that is in the works to be released in it’s full/final form in the latter part of this year. What you see in this video is the NESDev Competition 2020/21 Edition, which was just released in the past couple weeks as a teaser for the full game. This game was made by the same devs of « From Below », another excellent homebrew NES game I’m releasing a video for today: https://youtu.be/SudAhqeY1XU
A full version with physical cartridge and ROM purchase options will be available later this year, with the ideas in the game expanded upon to a full experience.
The homebrew community has a lot to offer for fans of classic NES gaming. The extents that they push the hardware in different ways is still fascinating to me, especially with music. Check out the NESDev community forums for other developments and homebrew magic: http://forums.nesdev.com/
